The Delegating Nurse Case Manager (DNCM) is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Maryland who is certified to delegate nursing functions and oversee the implementation of health services in Assisted Living (AL) and/or Developmental Disabilities (DD) settings. The DNCM is responsible for evaluating clients’ health needs, developing and updating service plans, training and supervising medication technicians and caregivers, and ensuring compliance with Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Delegation & Supervision: Assess the competency of medication technicians and caregivers. Delegate nursing tasks in accordance with Maryland Nurse Practice Act and MBON regulations. Supervise and provide oversight of delegated nursing tasks on an ongoing basis. Supervision would also include other Delegating nurses and medical assistance 2. Client Case Management: Complete initial and ongoing assessments of residents’/clients’ health care needs. Develop and update nursing service plans and health care protocols. Monitor and evaluate clients’ conditions, ensuring appropriate interventions. 3. Training & Education: Train and certify Medication Technicians (Med Techs) as required by Maryland regulations. Provide ongoing education and performance evaluation for direct care staff. Ensure compliance with infection control, medication administration, and documentation standards. 4. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the facility or agency remains compliant with Maryland regulations for nursing delegation and assisted living services. Maintain documentation in accordance with state and agency policies. Participate in audits, inspections, and licensing reviews as needed. 5. Communication & Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, family members, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care. Serve as a liaison between medical professionals and facility staff. Provide timely reports and updates on clients’ health status to appropriate stakeholders. Qualifications: Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in Maryland. Completion of the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) Delegating Nurse Training Program. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with preference in geriatrics, assisted living, or developmental disabilities. Preferred: Prior experience as a Delegating Nurse in Maryland. Knowledge of COMAR regulations (Code of Maryland Regulations), especially Title 10 (Health) and Title 15 (Assisted Living). Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation systems. Skills & Competencies: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of Maryland nursing delegation laws and assisted living regulations. Work Environment: On-site at assisted living facilities, group homes, or DD residential programs/with standard office hours to ensure coordination of nursing services.
