Utilizes universal precautions, assists in obtaining specimens from patients (venipuncture, cultures, etc.) and forwards to laboratory as applicable. Performs lab testing (i.e. urine dip, pregnancy test, hemoccult, hemocue, strep screen) including all quality controls as applicable and documents all results comprehensively and accurately in the chart and maintains all laboratory/diagnostic test logs. Assists other members of the team to include, but not limited to, answering incoming phone calls, preparing charts, scheduling and other office tasks required to keep the clinic operating smoothly. Assists in pre-chart planning for incoming patients. Demonstrates an ability to remain calm and professional during periods of peak activity. Participates in the training and orientation and education of new employees. Maintains a clean and safe environment and participates in maintaining equipment and supplies in exam rooms and nursing station areas.
