Key Responsibilities Supervise nursing staff involved in the MDS process and coordinate staff schedules to ensure program coverage. Serve as a preceptor for newly hired staff and provide ongoing education and training related to MDS and skilled care documentation. Track Medicare beneficiary benefit periods and validate eligibility for Medicare Part A skilled services. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine skilled medical necessity for residents. Review and audit MDS assessments, resident care plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance. Provide training and guidance to nursing staff regarding documentation standards and skilled care requirements. Coordinate with finance staff to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with diagnoses and medical documentation. Communicate with CMS and managed care organizations to support authorization and continuation of benefits. Maintain the Prospective Payment System (PPS) schedule for residents utilizing Medicare benefits. Forwards information to the Dietary Department. • Makes beds, bathes and feeds resident, when necessary. • Assures documentation is accurately completed for admission, discharge and transfer. • Supervises and evaluates implementation of the " Resident' s Rights". • Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities. • Follows facility procedure requesting supplies and charges for items ordered through Central Supply. • Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings. • Perform additional duties as assigned.
