Flex Emergency Services Admissions RN - 12-hour shifts (7am - 7pm)

Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Focuses primarily on RN-to-RN screenings, (i.e. reviewing H&P, labs, and other clinical documentations) for all admissions and ensures patients are medically appropriate for admission. Responds to inquiry calls regarding services. Oversees the admission process including the appropriateness of the admission, completion RN to RN screenings, orders for the admissions, and any additional required paperwork. Coordinate transfer of those patients requiring a higher level of medical care and/or medical clearance. Has a strong understanding of the department computer systems. Conducts the initial assessment which includes prior treatment history, previous medications, health screen, family dynamics and risk factors. FLEX/PRN position - no benefts. Overview Join Affiliated Oncologists as a Nurse Practitioner! AO specializes in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma lung, breast, prostate, gynecologic, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible. SCOPE: Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients. - Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated. - Performs procedures with minimal supervision. - Assesses patient/family needs and provides education. - Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. - Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice. - Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. - Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion. - Likely to provide case management for patients and their families. - Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials. - May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed. - May promote/provide staff education - Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls - May mentor new advanced practice providers - May precept APP students - Other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner. Previous oncology experience strongly preferred. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state required. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
