They will work collaboratively with the health care team including Trauma and Surgery physicians, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the trauma or surgery patient care, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with departments affecting the care of the Trauma or Surgery patient. Surgical Advanced Practice Providers will act as a clinical educator working with staff on Trauma or Surgery competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. They will work with the Trauma Surgeons to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management. The Surgical Advanced Practice Provider’s role will also include the First Assist coverage of obstetric patients undergoing cesarean sections in the Labor & Delivery ORs, weekend and night call and cross-campus coverage.
