The Advanced Practice Provider engages in complex medical decision making to provide comprehensive medical management to their caseload of patients. They rapidly assess, diagnose, and initiate emergency stroke interventions and work closely with the Emergency Department, Neuro critical care, Neuro interventional, and Neuro surgical teams. The scope of practice also includes family support, teaching, staff education, consultation, and research. As the Neurology Advanced Practice Provider, you will manage our acute stroke neurology patients and will leverage knowledge of neurological testing and imaging, acute stroke treatment plans, and neurovascular intervention. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in Vascular Neurology, hospital medicine or critical care that can be applied to care for a diverse patient population and the full range of stroke diagnoses and medical comorbidities. In this role, the Advanced Practice Provider will assist the OBGYN Operating Room Services. The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage a caseload of patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The APP will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, as well as complete administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership. The APP has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to assist the physician through organized instruction and supervised practice. Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job Functions Serving as a member of the inpatient surgical team for the Complex Gynecology service, Benign Gynecology service, and occasionally the Gynecologic Oncology service Working with the inpatient surgical team, including trainees: Residents, fellows, and medical students, with a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each team member First assisting in the operating room in a variety of laparoscopic and open gynecologic cases: Hysterectomy, myomectomy, excision of endometriosis; including placement of trocars, docking the daVinci robot, oversight of robotic instrumentation, and laparoscopic assistance during the procedure Communication with robotic vendors as needed Conducting pre and post-operative patient evaluation, including prepping cases and occasional post-operative checks Demonstrating initiative in becoming familiar with individual surgeon preferences and expectations to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care Remaining flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to last-minute assignment changes in a high-complexity, fast-paced clinical environment Nurse Practitioner Required Qualifications Master's of Science in Nursing Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers Operating Room experience preferred Physician Assistant Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure / registration Operating Room experience preferred Position Details Full-Time, 1.0 FTE Mon-Friday 10 hour Unit/Department: CCD OR Non-Union
