The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to GI Oncology patients and patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. They follow patients during their chemotherapy, post operative care, provide medical supportive care, and surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages basic health needs of patients, addresses treatment toxicities, performs procedures, monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Responsibilities Provide care for complex patients with GI malignancies in curative and end of life settings. Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training program awarding a Master’s degree. Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Licensed to practice in the state of Washington. DEA license upon credentialing/start. ACLS within 3 months of hire. Preferred: One year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology preferred. The annual base salary range for this position is from $131,000 to $201,456, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month services periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary pain team at the Center for Pain Relief at University of Washington Medical Center—Roosevelt, the primary site of outpatient pain management at UW. The Center for Pain Relief utilizes a collaborative approach between physicians (primarily from anesthesiology, but may also be from family/internal medicine, neurology, PM&R, and psychiatry), pain psychologists, advanced practice providers (APPs), and clinical pharmacists. The successful candidate will see patients independently, though each patient is also assigned an attending physician for periodic review. Duties include the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems, including relevant medical and psychological conditions. Other specific pain-related duties may include but are not limited to prescription and oversight of chronic opioid therapy and care coordination. There may be some involvement in oversight of specific pain treatments such as lidocaine infusions or capsaicin patch application and post-procedure follow up after outpatient pain interventions. Visits are on-demand, low-barrier and synchronous telehealth visits using video or audio-only technology. Job Description Harborview Medical Center Inpatient Acute Care Float APP (ARNP; Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant) This opening is for 100% FTE, Days; (and with weekend and holiday coverage, and with the potential for some night shifts). The Inpatient Acute Care Float APP team is composed of licensed physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are skilled and trained to work across multiple services at Harborview (currently including General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, & Burns). Float APPs possess the ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and provide comprehensive care. They play a critical role, filling in when there are staffing shortages, leaves and fluctuating demands. Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians or fellows, lead APP and APP assistant director. Guidelines include general policy procedures and practice guidelines established by the department and Harborview Medical Center, as well as appropriate professional and technical manuals.
