As a Medical Assistant I, you will perform expanded and advanced level medical assistant duties including but not limited to identifying and resolving concerns regarding patient satisfaction, patient flow, and compliance with procedures and guidelines. Addresses incoming questions when appropriate Monitors practice issues and problems. Identifies and resolves concerns regarding patient satisfaction, patient flow, and compliance with procedures and guidelines. Advocates for patients as appropriate Identifies and assists in resolving patient concerns and operational difficulties. Informs supervisor of outstanding issues in the practice Handles patients and third-party requests (i.e. worker's compensation, government and social services) for documentation of medical information, such as health status, worker's compensation related care, and return to work authorizations Completes forms needed for visits and submits to MD for review. May need to review patient record for missing information. Verifies prior authorizations May serve as departmental float position rotating among departments. This requires learning the operational issues and practices of multiple areas. Float responsibilities may be within either primary care or specialty departments Participates in care improvement activities as expected, such as Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), Value Stream Analyses (VSAs), and Managing of Daily Improvements (MDIs) Trains and orients new staff as needed. The Oncology Registered Nurse is focused on patient assessment, patient education, the coordination of care, administration of therapy, symptom management and supportive care for the Oncology and Hematology patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Registered Nurse cares for individuals receiving therapy for oncologic and hematologic problems. The nurse’s responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a complex patient population. Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program (ONRP) or 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse. Ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred. Professional nursing certification (e.g., OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN-BC) is preferred, and AHA BLS certification is required (AHA ACLS is acceptable as a minimum requirement). The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) uses their oncology-specific clinical knowledge to offer individualized assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, an ONN provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.
