To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking an ARNP/PA for full-time (1.0) at the rank of Teaching Associate. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The ARNP/PA is a member of the inter-professional gastroenterology and hepatology team that includes attending physicians, gastroenterology and hepatology trainees, multidisciplinary specialists (social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, psychiatrists) , other physician assistants, and nurse practitioners providing care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disease in the inpatient and outpatient settings. A successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The positions will provide clinical services at the UWMC-Montlake with a focus in Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology. Duties will include providing hepatology consultative services for outpatients including General Hepatology, Transplant Hepatology and Liver Tumor clinics. The hepatology team includes attending physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, as well as clinic staff including nurses and medical assistants. Estimated start date of October 1, 2026. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,833 - $15,417 per month ($129,996 - $185,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or graduate of an accredited PA program, or foreign equivalent. Current and valid licensure as an ARNP or PA-C in Washington State. Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and clinical expertise in the care of patients with chronic and acute gastrointestinal and liver illnesses. This position provides opportunities for autonomous practice in the Infusion Room, the Acute Clinical Evaluation (ACE) Clinic and on the Rapid Response team. This position works collaboratively with treatment teams throughout the building to coordinate care of patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of a Medical Director. The ACE Clinic at Fred Hutch South Lake Union campus is expanding to a new clinic site located on the University of Washington’s Montlake campus. This position will provide patient care at both Fred Hutch South Lake Union campus and the Fred Hutch outpatient beds located on the UWMC Montlake campus. Responsibilities Primary coverage of the ACE Clinic including evaluation and management of a broad variety of Hematology-Oncology focused urgent issues including but not limited to: GI toxicities (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) Infectious workup and management Fluid and electrolyte management Pain DVT/PE evaluation & management Hyperglycemia Post fall evaluation & management Primary support for Hematology/Oncology teams for patient status changes and urgent situations requiring immediate interventions including but not limited to: Infusion and transfusion reactions Sepsis/Neutropenic fever Chest pain Shortness of breath New altered mental status Significant falls Syncopal episodes New or worsening pain Cardiac arrhythmias Performs an appropriate focused examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients. Manages initial evaluation to diagnostic testing through ordering and implementation of care. Facilitates hospital admissions as needed. Communicates changes in patient’s health status or urgent patient issues to the primary attending and team in a timely manner Collaborates and consults with interdisciplinary health team to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care Rapid Response Team Leader during clinical work hours Qualifications Required: Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must! The APP is a nurse practitioner or certified physician assistant who will provide care for patients receiving immunotherapy and cellular therapies as well as standard admissions for chemotherapy or toxicities of treatment/underlying disease. The APP is responsible for the primary care of the patient as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team led by an attending physician. Responsibilities include obtain medical history, perform physical examinations, review and order diagnostic studies, radiographs and prescribe treatments. Responsibilities Works as part on an interdisciplinary team on the inpatient wards at UWMC working 12 hour rotating shifts to cover 7 days per week. Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s; rounds daily with team and attending physician. Evaluates and manages all aspects of care for medical oncology and hematology inpatients. Performs procedures (bone marrow, LP, etc.) according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services Communicates changes and transitions from inpatient to outpatient in a seamless fashion and communicates changes in patient’s health status or urgent patient issues to the patient’s primary oncology team. Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Actively participates in clinical aspects of research trials Documents patient care data in accordance with the Fred Hutch and UWP policies Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must!
