Responsibilities Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met. Monitors and records patients condition continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Qualifications Education and Work Experience Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN); preferred. Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required. Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required. One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required. Coast Surgery Center - scope of services: orthopedics, pain management & podiatry. We are looking for a Surgical Scrub Technologist for our Surgery Center. Job Summary Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures. Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment. Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse. Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants. Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated. Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon. Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team. SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse performs a variety of resident care functions and closely observes residents for changes in medical status. Administration of Resident Care : Demonstrates ability to provide appropriate and quality nursing care to residents, including but not limited to: (1) Reviews all resident histories to determine course of illness and all co morbidities for integration into the care plan. (2) Demonstrating the ability to assign meaning to resident symptoms and initiating appropriate action. (3) Ensuring that problems/concerns regarding activities in the facility/department are communicated appropriately. (4) Effectively assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for residents. (5) Educating residents, families and significant others regarding treatment, tests, special procedures, medications and safety. (6) Consistently monitoring resident condition and initiates appropriate nursing intervention. (7) Initiating and conducting emergency measures (including CPR) required to stabilize patient's condition.
