In addition, our Acute Rehabilitation Unit is dedicated to helping patients recover from the effects of acute injuries, impairments, or illnesses. Job Summary Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in assigned area. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of professional nursing personnel. Essential Functions Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of unit activities, needs, and problems related to patient care. Provides general nursing care such as positioning the patient, lifting, turning, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bed pan, urinal or commode, ambulating the patient, pre operative and post operative care, and application of binder or anti embolic stockings, bed bath, oral/hair/back care, changing bed linens, cleaning over bed table, and bedside stand, straightening patient room and other general care necessary during the shift. The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license, and at least one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Candidates must work the Evening/Night shift from 7:00pm - 7:00am shift, Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 32-bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery. Job Description We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our General Med/Surg unit (20WT)– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. 20WT is a 34 bed med/surg unit that sees kidney, liver transplant, renal and GI patients. Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and detects changes in patient status Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient’s condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate Assess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching. Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members. Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner. Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance. Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives.
