Job Description Harborview's Medical Respite Program (Edward Thomas House Medical Respite) has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN). WORK SCHEDULE Part-time 80% FTE M-Th 8-1630 Department Summary Harborview's Medical Respite Program (Edward Thomas House Medical Respite) is a program that provides recuperative care to people experiencing homelessness who are too sick to return to the shelter or streets, but do not require a hospital level of care. Primary Job Responsibilities Screen and triage referrals from King County hospitals for Medical Respite admission Coordinate with referring facilities and Respite staff to complete referral documentation Determine patient eligibility for admission Facilitate and coordinate patient transfers to the Respite program Demonstrate strong multitasking, attention to detail, and communication skills Provide direct nursing care within the clinic setting as needed Perform wound care and PICC line management Support case management activities in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams Requirements Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (including wound care, PICC line management, and case management) At least 1 year of experience working with homeless and/or safety-net populations About Harborview Medical Center As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. A Fred Hutch Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult oncology patients at our community site at Northwest Hospital. They will actively coordinate the complex care of cancer patients undergoing both systemic anti-cancer therapy and radiation therapy. The incumbent will manage side-effects of these therapies, order appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies; prescribe medications and refer patients to other specialists as necessary. The incumbent may provide for post-treatment cancer patients follow-up visits for the medically indicated period after completion of treatment. The incumbent will also provide psychological support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching and refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. This position requires the ability to lead other clinical staff, be accountable for the work required in this position, the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and the relentless pursuit of excellent patient centered care. This clinic provides a broad range of services including GI, Lung, GU, Breast, and Hematologic Malignancies and Radiation therapy. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training program awarding a Master’s degree. Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Licensed to practice in the state of Washington. DEA license upon credentialing/start. ACLS within 3 months of hire. Preferred: 1 year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology preferred. The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to GI Oncology patients and patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. They follow patients during their chemotherapy, post operative care, provide medical supportive care, and surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages basic health needs of patients, addresses treatment toxicities, performs procedures, monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with professional peers as needed. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician.
