Summary The Radiology RN is a professional nurse committed to ensuring that the patient receives optimal care. He/she maintains a continuous program of in-service, education, and periodic evaluation of skills is maintained to ensure that the quality of care provided is current with the developments in the medical nursing and infection control fields. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Imaging Services Department. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring. Is able to provide moderate sedation safely and effectively to imaging patients. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient’s condition. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. Approaches patient in a kind, gentle and friendly manner. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results. Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments with any change in condition. Ability to adequately asses and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Communicates Clinical Laboratory/Imaging Services reports to the surgeon before and during the patient’s procedure. Ability to perform waived testing (Point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the patient care unit’s policies and procedures. Ability to interpret results of tests; take appropriate action on tests results. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. Follows the facility guidelines for Moderate Sedation. Ability to perform a pre-sedation and post-sedation assessment. Document correctly in the medical record for each patient before, during, and after administering moderate sedation. Adjusts nursing plan of care per patient acuity. Performs all additional duties as assigned by the department manager. Regulatory Requirements: Current state Registered Nurse Licensure Two or more year of recent critical care experience preferred Current ACLS and BLS certification Complete the facility’s moderate sedation & basic EKG or Arrhythmia-identification education within one year
