Play a key role in the review, analysis, implementation, and improvement of patient safety. Have clinical expertise to support select committees and taskforce workgroups as well as synthesizes patient safety event(s) information and determine appropriate follow up. Work with administrators, managers, faculty and staff to develop improvements to prevent reoccurrence of patient safety events and to improve quality of care. For significant events with harm and other reportable events, this position will ensure that action items are completed as required and documented appropriately. Close collaboration with the UWMC Patient Safety Officer and Risk Management to manage patient safety events and outcomes. Will lead and/or facilitate patient safety projects, workgroups and/or committees and ensure that they are aligned with organizational goals and regulatory reporting requirements. Responsibilities Responsible for independent review and analysis of patient safety events requiring knowledge of state and national requirements for reporting and follow up. Coordinate, synthesize and document information about patient safety events in preparation for the review process.
