As a Nurse Coordinator you will be stationed at the Towson hospital campus working Day and Evening shifts 7a.m.-7p.m., 36 hours weekly with rotating weekends. This position supports two units - Adult Co-Occurring Disorders Unit The Co-Occurring Disorders Unit is a safe and welcoming inpatient unit that is specially designed for the treatment of adults ages 18 to 65 who are experiencing more than one mental health condition. The individuals could be experiencing multiple psychiatric issues, which may include a substance use disorder. Many are experiencing recurring problems, triggered by stressful situations, life problems, and more. No matter how individuals come into our care, we help individuals safely get through this period of crisis and begin (or continue) their journey towards recovery. We are a short term psychiatric inpatient unit; we are not a rehabilitation facility, but are a starting point in the process of recovery. Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit The Crisis Stabilization Unit at Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus is a safe and welcoming 22-bed inpatient unit that is specially designed for the treatment of adults with a mental illness. Individuals generally come to our unit for care after experiencing suicidal ideation, a suicide attempt, severe anxiety, or generally unsafe behavior. In general, we treat individuals who are experiencing one or more of the following disorders: major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, a personality disorder, a dissociative disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. As a Staff Nurse you will: Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans. Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician. Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families. Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff. Document and report patient progress to treatment team. Requirements: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position. Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred. Functions as an educator and facilitator for all nursing staff. The Staff Development Coordinator - RN position reports to the Director of Nursing and is an integral part of the management team. The key to the Staff Development Coordinator - RN role is the identification of staff learning needs followed by the implementation and evaluation of programs.
