Responsibilities We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy. Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care by implementing: P rotecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources. D emonstrating safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation. S peak ing up with safety concerns acting as the patients advocate. Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures. Adher ing to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment. Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policy C ommunicating the patient’s current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care. A dministering medications safely and correctly using the 8 rights of medication administration. P racticing and monitoring aseptic technique . Implement ing the plan of care including the following interventions: M anaging patient recovery from anesthesia – Moderate sedation and Monitored anesthesia care . Assess ing patient status at intervals in accordance with facility policies and procedures . P roviding nursing care and appropriate monitoring in accordance with policies and procedures . P erforming interventions to maintain the patient’s tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels. Ensuring scopes are prepared for use in accordance with policies and procedures and manufacturer’s instructions for use . Maintain ing endoscopy instruments and accessories in working order. Troubleshooting and recognizing malfunctions . P erforming interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels. P erforming interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period. P erforming interventions to protect the patient from infection. A ssessing the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person. P roviding education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, pain management, and expected responses to the procedure. I nvolving the patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process. P rotecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy. P roviding age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice . Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes. Transfer care as applicable. Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient’s condition and response to care. Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act (if applicable), state board of nursing or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions . Document episode of care accurately, timely, completely, and legibly. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the team and other stakeholders. Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning patient care. Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects. Participate in the performance appraisal process. Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. About the Job: In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager and as a member of the nursing leadership team, the Clinical Teacher identifies the educational needs for the staff on assigned unit and implements and evaluates educational strategies designed to meet those needs. The Clinical Teacher serves as a clinical expert to staff to facilitate the provision of patient-centered, evidence-based care to the population served. As a transformational leader, the teacher serves as a clinical role model, facilitates change and promotes an environment of teamwork and collaboration. The Clinical Teacher works in collaboration with the Clinical Development Department. What You’ll Do: Coordinate the unit-based orientation process and monitor the progress of new hires throughout the orientation period. Facilitate unit-based preceptor development. Assess needs and design, coordinate/implement, and evaluate educational activities to maintain and advance clinical staff competency. Review and revise unit-specific competencies in collaboration with unit leadership and the Clinical Development Department. Maintain professional skill and knowledge through practice and education. Develop and augment knowledge and skills related to teaching and learning practices. Coach and mentor staff to enhance care delivery skills to foster safe, quality care. Serve as an advisor to the Unit Based Practice Committee. Assure compliance of area-specific educational requirements. Maintain documentation of annual required education. Contribute to staff annual performance appraisals. Partner with the Clinical Development staff to deliver specific education or in-service programs. Collaborate with peers to promote unit, departmental and organizational goals.
