A Brief Overview: The SANE cares for sexual assault Adult/Adolescent survivors while independently performing the medical forensic exams, head to toe nursing assessments, detailed anogenital examination, forensic specimen collection with supportive documentation, and forensic photographic documentation. The SANE must provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department or hospitalized on an inpatient unit. They will work closely with Emergency Room Physicians, survivor advocates, law enforcement, criminal justice officials and civil attorneys. What you will do: Performs duties of SANE with knowledge of forensic collection, STIs, medication and vicarious trauma towards the survivor. Attends SANE meetings for peer/chart review and information dissemination to ensure compliance and standards according to the Professional Forensic Scopes and Standard Practices, SASETA, and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
