JOB DUTIES Establishes preliminary diagnoses of physical abnormalities under the direction of the supervising physician as per guidelines. Recommends for further testing and examinations to appropriate cooperating services, (i.e., hospitals, clinical laboratories, radiological services, and other technical or specialized services. Provides preventative services such as, weight loss/diet modification, smoking cessation counseling, etc. Maintains and documents complete medical records and completes patient reports as required. Participates in the development of written standing orders and/or protocols to be used by the Physician Extender as appropriate. This includes scheduling patients for further testing including but not limited to echocardiograms, stress test, radiologic studies and laboratory studies. Medication management as well as referrals to other providers as necessary. Physician Assistant will review test results with the patient and also provide counseling and coordination of their care. Physician assistant will also follow patients within the hospital as consulted, document, place orders and order testing as appropriate.
