As part of an American Heart Association Gold-Plus Certified Primary Stroke Center, the ICU also manages patients recovering from acute strokes including those who have received thrombolytic therapy. Nurses work 12-hour day or night shifts (non-rotating) and participate in self-scheduling. Nurses are supported each shift with a dedicated charge nurse.
