Acts as key member of the multidisciplinary transplant teams. Solves complex clinical problems and communicates directly with the attending physician. Consultant and liaison for patients and their families with attending physicians, house staff, social workers, financial and administrative staff, and community physicians. Provides teaching to patients, staff, and community organizations. Collaborate with attending physicians on admissions, discharges and outpatient care. Works closely with administrative team to fulfill QA and regulatory requirements. Position may cross train to cover nursing positions in pre and post-transplant as well as the transplant multispecialty clinic. Experience caring for solid organ transplant patients on a nursing floor or outpatient unit that specializes in caring for this patient population. May perform tuberculin, coccidioidin and histoplasmin skin tests, provides such tests are part of a tuberculosis control program. May perform immunizations provides they are based upon written protocols. Completes necessary arrangements or organizes treatment rooms prior to surgical and/or examination procedures by setting up or laying out instruments, drapes and sponges contained in sterile trays and assembling equipment items as required for particular procedures as directed.
