*PREOP/PACU RN Under general direction from Center Manager, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, treatment and evaluation of the patient. If there is a non-clinical Center Manager in place, then nursing services reports directly to the Director of Nursing (DON) and is under the general direction from the DON. B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs patient preparation, including but not limited to: review of medical history, acquisition of appropriate consents, measuring vital signs, starting IV, administering medications, glucometer/similar testing and setting up appropriate monitors. 2. Verifies that essential equipment is functioning properly each day. 3. Assesses and monitors patients before, after and throughout all phases of care, demonstrating competency with all monitoring equipment. 4. Identifies the patient and correct procedural intervention according to policy/procedure and communicates such information to all members of the surgical team. 5. Transports and positions patients observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs. 6. Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures. 7. Maintains patient safety, and ensures a clean, orderly environment throughout the Center. 8. Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders/directions 9. Addresses individual patient needs and completes all pre and post-op physician orders. 10. Adheres to CDC Bodily Fluid precautions and infectious waste disposal according to policy. 11. Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards 12. Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management 13. Conducts pre and post-procedure orientation and instruction of patient and/or patient’s family, communicating a positive and caring attitude. Provides verbal and written discharge criteria. 14. Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members 15. Conducts pre and post-procedure telephone interviews. 16. Performs other duties as requested or assigned. Engages in various clerical and recordkeeping duties as needed. Demonstrated knowledge of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e. patient body fluids, disinfectant chemicals) and location of SDS sheets. 19. Participates in the QAPI and Safety Program. Job Requirements The Cancer Nurse Coordinator/Navigator is responsible for providing guidance, support, and education to patients and their families (in area(s) of specified disease specialty) through the diagnostic, treatment and follow-up portions of their care. Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities Performs essential duties necessary to clinic or non-acute operations to include: Full Intakes Reconciliation of Medications Patient Education Vaccinations/Injections/Phlebotomy Provides safe/therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way in a physician practice or other outpatient setting. Incorporates differences into the provision of care while integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families to include patient and family education. Achieves desired patient outcomes by using an integrated approach. Incorporates data and information to improve care and enhances outcomes while ensuring improvements in practice settings. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor and mentor. Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care. Determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems. Works with the team to achieve maximum productivity. Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience. Minimum Qualifications Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Licensure: RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse. Experience: 0 years of registered nurse clinical experience. Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association. Position Title Registered Nurse, 4A/General Surgical Unit (Part-Time) Job Description Purpose & Scope: Across all levels, the registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of their assigned patients. The RN is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required for this position. Education: Bachelor's in Nursing Required Experience: One year of Nursing/Patient Care in an acute care setting is required Certification/Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required or, Compact State Licensure in Nursing required BLS certification required Registered Nurses on designated units are required to maintain certain certifications. New to practice area nurses or new graduates have 1 year to complete the specialty requirements below. ACLS: ED, ICU, CVICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Bronch Suite, Interventional Radiology, Radiology Safety Nurses, Step down Units (3A, 3B, 4B), 6A, 6B, 7A, Labor and Delivery, Hemodialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Float pool, GI Unit, and PACU PALS: PACU: Pediatric Nurses, ED NRP: NICU, Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery De-escalation training: BHU, ED Per policy ACLS or PALS cards stand as showing competence in BLS Skills per American Heart Association Guidelines. If an employee holds current ACLS or PALS certification, this meets the requirement for BLS in their job description. They do not need to also carry a separate BLS certification.
