Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Inpatient Registered Nurse, you will deliver high-quality, skilled nursing services to patients requiring hospitalization, guiding them toward optimal health and functional recovery. The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to Heme/Heme Malignancy patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. They follow patients during their chemotherapy and provide medical supportive care, as well as surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages basic health needs of patients, addresses treatment toxicities, performs procedures, monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice. Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Active member of the Fred Hutch Rapid Response/Code Team Other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training program awarding a Master’s degree. Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Licensed to practice in the state of Washington. DEA license upon credentialing/start ACLS within 3 months of hire PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 1 year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology or Hematology preferred. The hourly pay range for this position is from $70.21 to $110.95, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Cooperates and communicates effectively with other team members in order to accomplish the workload. Communicates recognition of the patients and family/significant others psychosocial, cultural and emotional needs in each nurse-patient interaction. Orients patients and family/significant others to the role of the professional nurse and other health care team members, the nursing services available, and the means of access to those services. Reinforces orientation to the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. Identifies the patients educational needs as part of the nursing assessment. Develops an educational component for each nursing care plan. Provides teaching/counseling congruent with patients and family/significant others learning needs and the medical plan of care. Encourages patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens. Teaching is based on scientific and behavioral knowledge. Assesses patient lifestyle risk factors.
