Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care. Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures. Assesses personal learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly up-dates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served. Shows a willingness to participate on Nursing Committees. Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers. Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested his/her immediate supervisor. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Basic Life Support Certification required and must maintain certification. Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology exam. Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program and challenge exam demonstrated skills in IV administration, IV starts, ventilator care, and telemetry monitoring by end of novice program. ACLS Certification required by end of novice program and must maintain certification. Must read, write and communicate in English. Completion of an approved de-escalation Certification Course required by end of transition program (course offered within). TNCC, ENPC and PALS certifications preferred. Recent clinical experience (within last 2 years) as an Emergency Center Technician, EMT, LPN, RN or nurses’ aide is required. Responsibilities Intake Registered Nurse (RN) Opportunity - Part Time, 24 hours per week This is a part time, 24 hour per week position working 3pm - 11pm two shifts per week on the weekdays (Mon - Fri) and includes an every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) requirement. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems. The Intake RN must answer calls entering the queue (or coming in on direct extensions) and process demographic, clinical and insurance information in a manner consistent with service excellence and that ensures efficient and effective call processing, leading to a patient admission to Pembroke Hospitals program or providing appropriate information to the caller. The Intake RN is an adjunct to the department and is available as an immediate resource to non- clinical staff to assist them in ensuring appropriate medical screening in order to facilitate timely and expedited placement of patients within Pembroke Hospital facilities who meet admission guidelines. Responsibilities Complete intake call sheet on all referrals including for inpatient as appropriate for the position. Gather all necessary demographic, clinical and financial information on call sheet. Ensure information is accurate and complete as call sheet is transmitted to hospital clinical and business office staff. Requests evaluation from ESP/ED/Referrer as appropriate. Assist Intake Coordinators when requested in interpretation of lab values, and diagnostic testing within Pembroke guidelines in order to facilitate appropriate referrals to facilities. Reviews for first call acceptance of appropriate patients based on Pembroke protocols. Notify the units of pending admissions. Send completed call sheets and insurance verification/authorization to Hospital Unit, Utilization Review and Business office. Maintain accurate, up-to-date bed availability including update hospital staff of pending admissions or cancellations. Update external bedboard on regular basis. Adhere to department procedures related to waitlisted patients, transferring cases. Contact the CEO when a review is necessary or patient delayed.
