The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Professional Staff Nurse encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. BSN preferred. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. The CNM provides full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care to low and moderate risk patients in our several clinic locations and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Women & Babies Hospital. Inpatient responsibilities include assessing patients in Triage, managing low and moderate risk labor, attending births, and rounding on postpartum patients in our Couplet Care unit. Our midwives function independently within a team-based care model. We maintain excellent working relationships with our collaborating physicians, as well as with the residents and nurses on the labor floor, to provide midwifery services to patients. The CNM should be self-directed, responsible and accountable for clinical practice and also provide continuity, compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients. Some travel may be required to satellite offices.
