The caregiver must follow the client’s care plan and use any required gait belt, Hoyer lift, sit-to-stand lift, or other approved transfer device only after receiving proper training and authorization. If a transfer requires two caregivers or cannot be completed safely, the caregiver must not attempt it alone. Concerns must be reported immediately. Caregivers must not wait until the end of the shift to report an urgent change, fall, near fall, injury, or safety concern.
