Phase 1 Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a 6-bay Recovery Room that provides immediate post-procedural care in accordance with ASPAN standards. The PACU Nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients both inpatient and outpatient. Nursing care focuses on airway management, re-establishing hemodynamic stability with frequent procedural site and vital sign assessments and pain management. ICU or ED level experience required for this position. In Phase 2 the nurse assesses the patient for the appropriateness of discharge home while preparing the patient and loved ones for safe self-care at home. Effective patient education is essential in this phase of recovery.
