This position is eligible for up to $15,000.00 Sign on Bonus for those that qualify. ($7,500.00 for those with less than one year of experience) Position Summary: Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license Education, License & Cert: LPN ‐ Must be licensed in the state of practice. Experience: One‐year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required Essential Functions: 1. Directs patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam or treatment by identifying height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, and records same on chart. Will also interview patient to obtain history allergies, reconciles medication list and records on chart as requested. 2. Write or call Rx after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization for all department surgeons/providers as needed. Chart as written in patient’s chart 3. Email, fax or call in any insurance referrals. Follow up phone call with referral number to specialist if requested. 4. Assists in smooth departmental operation by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistant and MOA’s as requested. Answers telephone and performs other clerical functions as necessary (screen calls according to urgency and need). Must train and maintain proficiency in the use of computer equipment and other computer program training as requested. Attends to exam and procedure rooms, including assurance that proper supplies are on hand, maintain order and cleanliness. Order medications or clinical supplies for the department as requested. 6. Routes patient after exam to proper area for ancillary testing or follow‐up appointments, i.e. Blood work, x‐rays, and enter lab testing as requested. 8. Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications, etc.) 9. Be able to read and review pathology results with patients 10. Setup and tear down sterile fields 11. Basic knowledge of surgical instruments 12. Prepare surgical trays as needed for procedures for the day. 13. Assist surgeon with operative procedures both in the office and Operating Room if necessary 14. Maintain infection control measures including but not limited to proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave 15. Proficient with autoclave sterilization process 16. Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal 17. Assess signs and symptoms of infection and reporting to surgeon and/or provider 18. Hepatitis checks and protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse 19. May perform high level disinfection, based on departmental equipment. Other Duties: 1. As assigned as appropriate for LPN licensure 2. Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‐services, classes, training as required by the organization 3. Medication Assistance: Count Control Substance with outgoing PCA (sign your initials if count is correct). Report any missing controlled substances to administration. Prepare medication, bring medication to dining room during meal time, and assist residents with medication. If a resident requires medication prior to breakfast, PCA shall go to the resident's room and assist the resident with medication. If a resident requires afternoon or after dinner medication, the PCA shall assist the resident with medication from the med room. PCA must always watch residents ingest medication and properly document. PCA shall update medication administration record as needed, after Physician visits & ensure MAR & doctor's orders match PCA shall ensure that resident receives all necessary documents prior to doctor appointments. Consult and correspond with doctor offices for any necessary clarifications.. Record all pertinent information re: residents in the 24 hr. Log book. Personal Care Assistance: PCA shall assist residents in the dining room during mealtime by distributing meals to residents. PCA shall assist with cleaning the dining room after meals when required. PCA shall distribute facility provided snacks to residents during evening snack time. PCA shall assist residents with showering/bathing as needed. PCA shall assist residents with maintaining a healthy hygiene routine as needed. PCA shall assist residents by laundering residents clothing, linens, and towels as needed. PCA shall assist residents that require limited mobility assistance as needed. PCA shall answer all call bells, and check residents' whereabouts during rounds. PCA shall assist residents with operating the elevator lift. PCA shall assist residents by performing housekeeping and light maintenance tasks as needed. These tasks include but are not limited to: laundering residents clothing, linens, and towels, cleaning resident rooms, making residents’ beds, unclogging toilets, adjusting room temperature, salt areas outside of facility.
