Overview About the Role The Oncology RN Clinical Care Coordinator (OCC) works collaboratively with an oncologist in delivering care to their assigned patient population. This is an outpatient position and requires oncology clinical experience and sound nursing knowledge related to the care of patients undergoing cancer treatment to assist with the education, the coordination of care, and ongoing assessment of the patient's response to treatment. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care based on the individualized needs of patients and their families while adhering to professional nursing standards. Assesses, screens, evaluates, educates, and coordinates care for adult oncology patients receiving treatment through Outpatient Oncology Services. Applies specialized knowledge of chemotherapy and radiation oncology treatments to support safe and effective patient care. Delivers care management and outcome management services to promote positive patient outcomes and continuity of care. Supports daily clinical and office operations within the oncology practice setting. Demonstrates a collaborative team-oriented approach and flexibility by rotating among Oncology Service departments as needed. Maintains knowledge of and compliance with University Hospital (UH), Joint Commission, and Department of Health (DOH) regulations and standards. Participates in evidence-based nursing practice initiatives, quality assurance (QA) activities, and performance improvement (PI) programs to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes. Promotes excellence in patient care through effective communication, teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals required. Minimum of two (2) years of full-time hospital nursing experience preferred. Oncology nursing experience preferred. Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/ONCC Provider Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate and/or Radiation Therapy Certificate required. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) position is to provide high quality patient care. The APN utilizes advanced practice nursing expertise to provide care to patients in the Emergency Department. Other responsibilities for the APN include, but are not limited to, participation in staff orientation, consultation and evaluation for patients, families and health care team members. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
