Surgical Technologist - Woodwinds Hospital

Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at our Woodwinds Hospital located in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.6 FTE (64 hours every two weeks), benefits-eligible. The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening shift. Shift times are 630AM - 3PM, 9AM - 530PM, and 1030AM - 7PM. This position does have call requirements. Call requirements are above FTE, 30-minute call time (onsite call room available as well). About our OR at Woodwinds: We perform approximately 2,000 total joints a year including sophisticated revisions in our 6 innovative Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room. We average 15 - 25 cases per day. Our specialties include, but are not limited to, Orthopedics, General, Gynecology, Neuro/spine, Podiatry, Orthopedic Spine, Urology, Vascular, and ENT. The Surgical Technologist p erforms the functions of a surgical technologist as a scrub person during surgical procedures providing patient care services appropriate to the age of the patients (ages pediatric through geriatric) served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN. Is responsible for adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of an RN. Responsibilities Serves as scrub person during operative procedures Anticipates surgeon’s needs Supplies appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintains aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Assures proper identification and handling of specimens. Completes all required sponge, sharps, and instrument counts. Follows appropriate action in emergency situations. Provides patient care Adheres to standards of clinical practice and patient care appropriate to the age of the patients. Assists in transfer/positioning of patients. Collaborates with the MD and circulating nurse to provide care for each patient. Respects the confidentiality of all information. Corrects use and setup of supplies and equipment Assures availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment. Assembles and adjust equipment. Cleans, replenishes, and sterilizes instruments and supplies as needed. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment or supplies. Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next patient. Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Communicates in a respective manner. Ensures a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver. Job Overview Fairview Southdale Hospital seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join their Hospitalist Program. This will be a dual role with responsibilities that include acting as a House provider and Hospitalist. Along with the rapid response team, the House A dvanced P ractice P rovider (APP) provides immediate medical care to inpatients, outpatients utilizing hospital outpatient services, and on-site hospital visitors for urgent and emergency situations 24/7. Station 20 also has a mix of many challenging patients including those who are anxious/depressed and are at risk for self-harm or suicide as well as those who have thought disorders and struggle with managing their lives in the community. Some patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the RN experience. Station 20 is one of our teaching units and so RNs and PAs will work with resident doctors and medical students. Team meetings on teaching units are very informative and participatory. Job Overview Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Woodwind’s Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.7 FTE (56 hours per two weeks), working 8 hour shifts on the Day shift with an every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) rotation and a holiday rotation. Woodwinds Health Campus opened its 86-bed hospital in August 2000. Located on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury, MN, it’s the only hospital in the southeast metro area. About this position - Med Surg/Ortho 3 South 26 private rooms Patient population: total hips, total knees, spine surgeries, shoulder surgeries, general Med/Surg, and general ortho Ages 18+ Patient average length of stay is 1-3 days The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Responsibilities Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Places patient on/off monitors or equipment. Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner. Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Orients patient/family to environment. Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge. Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association-Healthcare Provider. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program. AND one of the four following qualifications: (1) Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) OR (2) Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program OR (3) Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position OR (4) Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
