Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Well-staffed Health and Rehabilitation Center in Queens, NY Weekly Pay! JOB DESCRIPTION: The Certified Nursing Assistant works directly under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and performs duties in a relation to the personal needs of the resident, care of supplies and equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness, comfort and safety of the resident in his/her environment. REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse, Supervisor and Director of Nursing Services (DNS) Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to write legibly. Physically able to perform the required duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care or long-term care setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides or assists with bed bath, tub bath, whirlpool and showers. (Supervises safety of same.) Provides personal grooming: i.e. hair, nails, shaving, personal clothing, mouth care, perineal care. Prepares laundry for pick-up and return. Checks resident's body for skin care: i.e. rash, any discoloration or edema. Feeding and Assisting with Feeding (when necessary) Provides calm, pleasant environment. Engages in cluster feeding while seated. Monitors daily intake and keeps nurses informed. Records food intake on Nutrition Work Sheet. Making Beds Uses recommended amount of linen and diapers. Disposes of linen in proper manner. Properly utilizes clean and dirty linen carts. Secures call bells to bed. Beds are made in proper manner. Knowledgeable in procedure for linen precaution. Safety of Residents: Make sure, if restraint is used, that it was indicated on assignment and the proper type is applied. Restraints are checked at the beginning and end of each shift. Supervises ambulation of resident when needed. Proper attention is given that side rails are up on bed when needed. Completes dining room duty as posted by charge nurse. Is alert for spills on floor. Answers call bells as soon as possible. Makes rounds frequently.
