Both NICUs are equipped to care for extremely premature infants and babies with a wide variety of illnesses, genetic conditions, and surgical requirements. Our neonatologists and advanced neonatal practitioners are on-site 24 hours a day in order to provide continuity of care to our patients and coordinate care decisions with other pediatric subspecialists. At Chilton Medical Center, the NICU is a Level II Special Care Nursery, an additional setting for high quality neonatal care within Atlantic Health System. It is always staffed by a team of experienced neonatologists, advanced neonatal practitioners and pediatric hospitalists. The SCN provides care to infants born at a gestational age of greater than 31 weeks who require critical care, including infants with infections and respiratory problems.
