Description Kindred Hospital Brea helps patients return to the lives they love. We also offer a 4-bed ICU and three negative pressure rooms to accommodate particularly serious conditions. Job Summary Provides planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Develops nursing care plans in coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary. Communicates changes in patient’s clinical condition with physicians, nursing supervisor/manager, and co-workers as appropriate. Participates in discharge planning process. Revises the plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age. Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure. Receives physician’s orders, ensure transcription is accurate and documents completion. Assists physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills within scope of practice. Administers medication utilizing the five rights of medication administration reducing the potential for medication errors. Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. About the Program As part of the Telecare family, La Paz is a 148-bed Gero-Psychiatric Center serving adults age 55 and older in Paramount, CA. The program provides specialized care and support for individuals with complex behavioral health and skilled nursing needs. As Director of Nursing, you will lead nursing operations within this inpatient setting and play a key role in clinical quality, regulatory compliance, staff development, and the delivery of safe, effective care. Trim hair in nose and ears as needed. • Observe and report the presence of reddened areas on bony prominences. • Keep drainage bag off the floor when resident is in bed or in wheelchair. • Apply Vaseline or A & D ointment to dry skin in accordance with established policies. • Move and turn bedfast residents at least every two hours and record such information on CNA notes. • Observe disoriented and comatose residents and notify Charge Nurse immediately. • Apply postural support properly. Check with Charge Nurse for type of restraint to be used. • Apply hand roll or splint to residents with contractures as outlined within the facility’s established policies and procedures. • Follow infection control procedures in accordance with established facility policy when isolation techniques are necessary. • Chart required information every shift. • Complete Intake and Output documentation on all residents with orders before the end of each shift. • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training 4. Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred 5. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable, required): 6. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 7. Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
