Overview The Department of Family Medicine at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Medical Assistant to join the team. Position assists Physicians and Nurses with patient care to include triage and stocking supplies. Also prepares patients for provider visits and assisting providers with procedure. Position includes responsibility to assist with front and back office procedures to include scheduling appointments, checking patinates in and out. Responsibilities Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, following standing triage orders, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies, make sure immunizations are up to date and prepare patient for the visit. Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgeries, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Provide basic patient care and education as directed by provider and standing orders. Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e.: patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agency requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up. Coordinates services with specialists i.e.: radiation oncology, pulmonology, endocrinology, nutritional counseling, or social services consultation. Documents all correspondence and interventions in the electronic health record. Assists supervisors in the training of new staff members. Medical Assistants are required to fill in for other clinical staff during vacations and illness and perform other duties as assigned by providers, or supervisors at both sites. Overview This is a full time position for a Medical Assistant in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, responsible for front and back office as well as assisting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Nursing staff with examination and performing Urodynamic Testing of patients. Responsibilities Perform Urodynamic Testing on patients. Skilled at placing urethral catheters. Nurse Practitioner II

Overview Responsible for providing prenatal, postnatal, general medical care and treatment of patients within the Maternal Fetal Medicine division which is a division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Nurse Practitioners are expected to function as an independent provider primarily coordinating pre-pregnancy, prenatal and post-partum care in women with high-risk pregnancies. This position will provide a combination of inpatient and outpatient care duties. Maternal Fetal Medicine nurse practitioners’ function in an expanded nursing role and perform selected tasks and services within the province of medicine as well as tasks that fall within the province of nursing. Nursing and medicine must maintain ongoing collaboration in education and practice so that the nurse practitioner is maximally effective in meeting the primary health-care needs of women. When performing nursing aspects of this role, the practitioner must have the opportunity to engage in independent as well as co-operative decision-making. When performing expanded aspects of the role that overlap with medicine, the practitioner must function in collaboration with qualified physicians within the framework of jointly approved guidelines. Overview The Lead Medical Assistant (Lead MA) in the Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery Division provides advanced clinical and administrative support while serving as a leader and resource for medical assistant staff.
