This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is subject to union membership requirements upon hire . POSITION OBJECTIVE The Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician provides services related to the safe and appropriate administration of medical treatment (including medications) as prescribed by the physician. The LVN/LPT provides documentation to the Treatment Team of response to treatment and notifies all parties of clinical changes of condition. QUALIFICATIONS One (1) year of experience in psychiatric nursing in a skilled nursing facility or an acute hospital is preferred. Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician program, and current licensure by the State of California are also required. A valid CPR Certificate is also required. Necessary skills include a demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment, knowledge of psychotropic medications and knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the delivery of mental health services in the State of California. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience: Minimum three (3) months experience in the acute psychiatric health care field is preferred. Licensure & Certification: Currently maintains an active RN license in good standing issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing CPR with AED certification must be current and presented to Human Resources upon hire. Additional Requirements: Ability to work every other weekend and holidays, as scheduled.
