What You'll Be Doing Closely monitors the patient for complications, administers medications including moderate sedation, documents the procedure, and assist with procedures. IR+PICC nurses also play an important role in communication and patient education both pre and post procedure. The successful candidate will be able to: Administering moderate sedation to patients during the procedures Monitoring patients’ vital signs during the procedure and reporting any changes to the physician or other staff members Preparing patients for procedures by explaining the procedure to them, preparing them for procedure, and setting up any equipment that is needed Preparing and arranging equipment for cases such as CT scans, ensuring that all equipment is working properly before and after each procedure Preparing patients for diagnostic imaging studies such as MRI scans and CT scans by helping them position and IV insertions Preparing patients for interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages Perform comfort and safety measures with patients in the radiology department Respond to emergencies The interventional radiology nurse will be responsible for patient care throughout minimally invasive, image-guided procedures from the moment a patient is admitted into the radiology department to the time when that patient is discharged to a post-operative recovery area. Other responsibilities include to start or check peripheral IVs, assess implanted ports, PICCs, and Midline catheter, monitor vital signs, suction patients, and help patients with their personal needs. Serve as nursing support for all radiology departments located in the hospital. Undergoes training by the vendor, complete 10 successful sticks to be certified, and maintain 30 successful sticks a year to maintain the certification Competent in IV access and assisting with IR procedures Troubleshoots, de-clot obstructed central line catheters Monitors PICC/MIDLINE and educates staff and patients on prevention of line infection and routine care. Assist with administrative duties during downtime for the Cath. Lab. Submits surveillance data for Quality and Infection control Check the crash carts, suction, and oxygen equipment daily Maintain patients log. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Ensure the provision of quality patient care to all hospitalized patients in the most efficient manner in accordance with company policy. Provides direct supervision and coordination of inpatient staff. Responsible for high volume monthly treatments. Utilizes the FMC mission, core values and customer service philosophy to ensure quality service while maintaining a high level of efficiency management. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives through the coordination of activities with a direct responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing. Monitors costs/spending in all areas including medical supply inventory, personnel and accounts payable. Determines innovative ways to reduce costs and maintain quality. Ensures proper staffing and operations at all contracted facilities. We are looking for a talented and hard-working RN to join our ever-growing team. Responsibilities: Assists in defining, maintaining and interpreting standards of practice. Performs required skills (assessment, intervention) according to guidelines, policies and procedures. Participates in interdisciplinary committees which influence or determine policies affecting nursing practice. Follow facility procedures/protocols for admitting residents transferring to hospitals/clinics/outpatient visits and completion of appropriate documentation based on established guideline. Makes rounds on all resident rooms and ensure that the L.P.N.’s, C.N.A.’s and/or others under his/her supervision receive their resident reports, has their assignments and break times scheduled. Assist the L.P.N. in establishing routines which facilitate a high level of nursing practice. Receives and give reports from and to outgoing and incoming shifts. Count or ensure the counting of controlled drugs with outgoing and incoming shifts. Develops care plan that demonstrate knowledge of criteria to ascertain resident specific needs based on health care problem(s). Makes needed revisions and updates to the care plans. Ensures that care plan is carried out which demonstrates familiarity with criteria to establish priorities specific to anticipated outcomes. Monitors the provision of care for the residents in his/her assigned unit. Interprets philosophy and objectives of nursing service to residents, families and others. Identifies resident/family learning needs based on the discharge care plan as applicable and carries out appropriate teaching required. Demonstrates ability to coordinate and collaborate with resident/family and other members of the comprehensive health care team. Monitors the administration and accurate recording of medications used. Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and reactions, incident and abnormal laboratory and x-ray results as required and documents same promptly. Transcribes physician orders timely and ensure orders are implemented as appropriate. Prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports. Reports all resident, visitor and work-related accidents/injuries and demonstrates appropriate follow through by investigating, documenting and processing incident reports. Accepts guidance, supervision, and criticism if needed. Practices in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory agencies regulations. Ability to apply nursing techniques as directed by physicians or professional nurses. Assures that a stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. are maintained at adequate levels at all times. Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing your nursing shifts. with the Ability to follow oral and written directions. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate or as may be directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator. Qualifications: Must have an active license as a RN Nurse (RN) in the State of New York. BLS and CPR Certifications. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Knowledge of practical nursing theory and practice especially as it relates to the elderly and gerontology issues. Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and for a minimum distance of 3 feet.
