To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The Department of Urology has an outstanding opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP - ARNP/PA-C) to fill a full-time, 12 month, academic position at the Teaching Associate level. The anticipated start date for the position is as early as Summer 2026. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,000 - $14,500 per month ($120,000 - $174,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The ARNP/PA is an integrated role which includes clinical, education and research components. This individual will be a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians to actively participate in the care of patients undergoing treatment and prevention, primarily at the Kidney Stone Center (KSC) at UWMC-Northwest Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Urology services, with a focus on Endourology. They will work independently and in concert with appropriate privileges, including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s medical, physical and psychosocial status in the inpatient and outpatient settings. There will be an opportunity to interact and work with Residents and Fellows of these disciplines. Patient care duties Provide advanced practice care within scope of practice for Urology inpatients and outpatients. Order, initiate and perform testing appropriate to presenting complaints. Perform comprehensive physical exams including focused Urology exam as appropriate. Identify diagnoses based on history, test result interpretation and assessment. Prescribe and/or institute treatment plans based on assessments and diagnostic tests. Prescribe medications as needed. Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust treatments accordingly. Initiate consultation with Attending MD and Chief Resident as appropriate. Admit patients to inpatient status as indicated. Discharge patients to home as indicated. Perform effectively during emergency situations, using sound judgment and following established protocol. Document assessment, findings, interventions, and outcomes as appropriate in patient medical record. Teach patient and family as needed to manage or improve health status. Coordinate/collaborate with other disciplines, health care providers, referring providers, health plans, etc., to meet patient needs. Provide referrals to other health care providers as needed, e.g., medical specialty, social work, physical therapy, etc. Lead or participate in team conferences as needed. Complete appropriate billing and charge documents. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to needs of clinic schedule and patient needs. Conduct appropriate handoff to house staff for patients requiring admission Perform minor surgical procedures, such as suturing lacerations and incision and drainage of abscesses, including administration of local anesthesia, or perform other specialty procedures within scope of practice. Opportunity for OR first or second assist for robotic procedures such as robotic simple prostatectomy, radical prostatectomy, or other applicable procedures. Qualifications Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure or Licensure as a PA in Washington State Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or graduate of an accredited PA program. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary Provides screening, preventive primary care and medical care services to members - primarily in non-clinical settings where members feel most comfortable, including in-home, community and nursing facilities and “pop up” clinics. Strives to ensure member progress toward desired outcomes and contributes to overarching strategy to provide quality and cost-effective member care. Essential Job Duties • Provides general medical care and care coordination to various and/or specific patient member populations – adult, women’s health, pediatric, and geriatric. • Performs comprehensive evaluations including history and physical exams for gaps in care and preventive assessments. • Addresses both chronic and acute primary care complaints, and demonstrates ability to ascertain medical urgency. • Establishes and documents reasonable medical diagnoses. • Seeks specialty consultation as appropriate. • Orders/performs pertinent diagnostic laboratory and radiology testing for the medical diagnosis or presenting symptoms; works within an environment of limited resources and therefore uses diagnostic tests judiciously and appropriately. • Understands when a member's needs are beyond their scope of knowledge and when physician oversight is needed. • Creates and implements a medical plan of care. • Schedules appointments for visits when appropriate. • Provides post-discharge coordination to reduce hospital readmission rates and emergency room utilization. • Performs face-to-face in-person visits in a variety of settings including in-home, skilled nursing facilities, and public locations. • Performs face-to-face visits via alternative modalities based on business need, leadership direction and state regulations. • Orders bulk laboratory orders to target specific member populations. • Performs alternating on-call coverage to triage any urgent lab results and pharmacy inquiries and develops appropriate plans of care. • Participates in community-based “pop up clinics” to build relationships with communities, and address gaps in health care. • Drives up to 120 miles a day on a regular basis to a variety of locations within the assigned region.
