To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The University of Washington’s Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking an ARNP/PA for full-time (1.0) at the rank of Teaching Associate. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The ARNP/PA is a member of the inter-professional gastroenterology and hepatology team that includes attending physicians, gastroenterology and hepatology trainees, multidisciplinary specialists (social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, psychiatrists) , other physician assistants, and nurse practitioners providing care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disease in the inpatient and outpatient settings. A successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The positions will provide clinical services at the UWMC-Montlake with a focus in Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology. Duties will include providing hepatology consultative services for outpatients including General Hepatology, Transplant Hepatology and Liver Tumor clinics. The hepatology team includes attending physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, as well as clinic staff including nurses and medical assistants. Estimated start date of October 1, 2026. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,833 - $15,417 per month ($129,996 - $185,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or graduate of an accredited PA program, or foreign equivalent. Current and valid licensure as an ARNP or PA-C in Washington State. Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and clinical expertise in the care of patients with chronic and acute gastrointestinal and liver illnesses. The APP is a nurse practitioner or certified physician assistant who will provide care for patients receiving immunotherapy and cellular therapies as well as standard admissions for chemotherapy or toxicities of treatment/underlying disease. Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s; rounds daily with team and attending physician. Evaluates and manages all aspects of care for medical oncology and hematology inpatients. Performs procedures (bone marrow, LP, etc.) according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services Communicates changes and transitions from inpatient to outpatient in a seamless fashion and communicates changes in patient’s health status or urgent patient issues to the patient’s primary oncology team. Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Actively participates in clinical aspects of research trials Documents patient care data in accordance with the Fred Hutch and UWP policies Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must! Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Washington state & DEA licensure required. ACLS required within 6 months of start date. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Preferred: One year experience as an ARNP or PA-C; Hematology, Oncology, or Inpatient experience strongly preferred. The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to GI Oncology patients and patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. They follow patients during their chemotherapy, post operative care, provide medical supportive care, and surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages basic health needs of patients, addresses treatment toxicities, performs procedures, monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with professional peers as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Responsibilities Provide care for complex patients with GI malignancies in curative and end of life settings. Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training program awarding a Master’s degree. Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Licensed to practice in the state of Washington. DEA license upon credentialing/start. ACLS within 3 months of hire. Preferred: One year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology preferred. The annual base salary range for this position is from $131,000 to $201,456, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
