Job Description Registered Nurse (RN -CN 1), Night Shift, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) ONA 2 CCP- Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (SICU) – 34-bed unit The Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 34-bed unit specializing in the complex care of adult patients requiring surgical interventions. The major specialties treated in this ICU are Trauma Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Oncologic Surgery. As the region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center, the SICU is always ready to receive any critical trauma patient requiring resuscitation and specialized nursing care. We have a variety of solid organ transplant recipients, including liver, kidney-pancreas, and kidney transplants. We care for complex oncologic, hepatobiliary, and general surgery patients who are referred from across the country. The majority of our patient population is in critical condition, with most patients generally stabilizing within 24-48 hours following admission. Patient care focuses on stabilizing cardio-pulmonary functioning, maintaining adequate circulatory volume and perfusion, preserving the patient’s protective mechanisms, and controlling pain. Our fast-paced SICU receives 5-8 admissions daily from the OR and ER. This requires a multidisciplinary team rounding process to ensure patients are ready to transition to the next phase of care on the surgical floors. The SICU nurse plays a vital role in this process. VAD Program Coordinator-RN - Main Advanced Heart Failure - Full Time - Days

Job Description Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Patient Coordinator is a clinical expert registered nurse who applies clinical expertise in evidence-based practice. Applies concepts derived from management and communication theory, group dynamics and clinical judgment to implement the VAD program. Integrates care with multidisciplinary team (within the hospital, practice and in the community) to facilitate VAD patient care from pre implant thru discharge of care. Clinical Expert/Consultant : Demonstrates or supports implementations of nursing process for VAD/HF patients. Recognized advisor sought out for clinical expertise related to VAD/HF. Responsibilities Educator : Evaluates competency of clinical staff (inside and outside of the hospital), patients, family members, physicians, and community health resources related to the care of patients with VAD's. Researcher : Functions as Study Coordinator or Co-Investigator for national investigational studies related to VAD and HF conducted at TCH. Job Description The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. The care is culturally based and age specific. The RN adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities The Nursing Process Assessment - Demonstrates the nursing skills to complete a holistic assessment of the patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and education needs utilizing The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Understands signs and symptoms and data related to the patient’s presenting needs and actual or potential nursing diagnosis. Recognizes and appropriately reports to the physician and charge RN pertinent abnormal data and changes in the patient’s condition. A MSN or DNP are not required but supersede the requirement for the BSN. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: None required REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: The RN demonstrates the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide age and culturally specific patient care and education. The RN effectively communicates with peers, utilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains absolute confidentiality. The RN maintains competence and demonstrates evidence of continuing professional growth.
