Description The Medical Assistant III provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Focus of tasks include basic rooming of patient, EKGs, Point of Care Testing and documentation in EPIC. In addition to the MA II skills, the MA III will be responsible to train staff, follow quality assurance guidelines, staff leadership and/or significant experience/skills in a particular specialty such as endoscopy, etc. The MA III should have at least 3+ years experience in a specialized area such as phlebotomy, pulmonary testing, surgery or cardiology . Responsibilities 1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing, as well as collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information. During endoscopies and colonoscopies, Medical Assistant directly assists physician with duties such as, biopsies, snare manipulation, and patient positioning. 2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. 3. Enters orders into the electronic medical record EPIC system or prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician. 4. Inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable. 5. Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies. Additional duties include the maintenance, cleaning, processing, and storage of scopes for endoscopes and colonoscopes. 6. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. 7. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations. 8. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances. 9. Assists in the maintenance of medical charts. 10. May be required to perform proficient phlebotomy duties. 11. May perform appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating patient demographic and insurance information. 12. May check and verify and update insurance information utilizing internal or web sources. May perform and verify pre-certification for procedures as necessary. 13. Title: Per Diem UAS Assessment Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Suffolk, NY Compensation: $50–$150 per hour (based on experience, specialty, and assignment) Position Overview We are seeking compassionate, experienced, and detail-oriented Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our growing team as Per Diem UAS Assessment Nurses throughout Suffolk County, NY. As a UAS Assessment RN, you will conduct comprehensive in-home assessments using the New York State Uniform Assessment System (UAS-NY) to evaluate patients' medical, functional, cognitive, and social needs. Your assessments will play a vital role in determining eligibility for home care services and ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of care. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive UAS-NY assessments in patients' homes throughout Orange County. Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental needs. Complete accurate and timely documentation within the UAS-NY system and electronic medical records. Develop objective clinical assessments that support appropriate care planning and service recommendations. Educate patients and family members about the assessment process and available home care services. Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, case managers, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care. Maintain compliance with New York State Department of Health regulations, agency policies, and documentation standards. Travel throughout assigned service areas while managing a flexible schedule. Qualifications Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current UAS-NY Certification is strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain certification if applicable). Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience required. Home Health, Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC), Case Management, or UAS Assessment experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Job Details Requirements: Diploma from an accredited LPN program and current NYS LPN license required. BCLS training and current certification required from: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. A detail-orientation with multiple tasks and follow-through of tasks to completion. Advanced proficiency using EPIC is a plus. Salary Range USD $37.65 - USD $41.23 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
