Fill out and complete transfer forms in accordance with established procedures. Drug Administration Functions Ensure unit staff prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician. Ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents. Report needs to the Director of Nursing. Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established policies. Ensure that narcotic records are accurate for the unit. Notify the Director of Nursing of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on the unit. Review medication records for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. 1.0 FTE / 40 hours Summa Health- Akron Campus Opportunity Highlights Inpatient setting - ICU rounding, post-op care, cardiothoracic consults Volume: avg. 12 patients per day (split among 3 providers) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hours, 1st shift, and every 4th weekend/holiday with weekday comp time. Full-time benefit eligible Summary Develops and advances the quality of advanced practice through specialized direct patient care of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients, leadership, consultation, education and research. Works to improve processes of care for patients. Ensures quality of patient care by utilizing established standards of care for specified department and coordination of services with physicians, care managers, social workers, patient care coordinators, therapists and other community agencies as appropriate. Formal Education Required Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program, MPAS preferred, and have passed the national certification examination administered by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants or Masters Degree in Nursing with completion of Advanced Practice program in area of expertise and National certification as CNP or CNS. If APRN must be certified as an RNFA if assisting in the OR. Experience & Training Required Current license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant in the state of Ohio. Minimum one-year experience as advanced practice provider preferred in the acute care setting. BLS certification. ACLS certification Completion of Summa Health System Operating Room Orientation before assisting with surgical procedures based on credentialing/privileging as approved by the Allied Health Credentialing/Privileging Committee of Summa Health. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to provide necessary care of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients as required by position and requested by institution. Ability to work independently, to prioritize work and solve problems. Demonstrates competency in Microsoft office and all computer programs utilized by the Practice. Ability to manage multiple projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Maintains affiliated hospital privileges as an Allied Health Professional. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals. Demonstrates flexibility to meet the ever-changing needs of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients and health care team members.
