As a Medical Assistant II, you will perform patient care and administrative/support responsibilities in an ambulatory setting. This position will help support Injection procedures and authorization. The Clinical Nurse on G10East Gynecologic/Radiation Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Design pouch systems for draining wounds and fistulae. Review and modify pouch system problems. Provide comprehensive wound management, including reducing causative factors, controlling odor, assessing nutritional needs, and providing and applying topical therapies. Provide education and support for individuals who undergo surgery for colostomies, ileostomies, or urostomies. Take actions to prevent and address peristomal skin complications. Select and recommend collection devices/undergarments. Maintain data and reports and requested. Participates in quality improvement. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide car appropriate to the age of the patients served. Lead prevalence study. Develop practice standards for managing patients with wound ostomy and incontinence care needs. Monitor patient outcomes on an ongoing basis.
