Summary Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Section of Hematology/Oncology and the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC), one of only three National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Texas. The Classical Hematology APP will play a pivotal role in the DLDCCC for the classical hematology patients. The successful candidate will work closely with our classical hematologists to provide comprehensive care for patients with benign/non-malignant hematological disorders. This APP's effort will be devoted to patient care in the classical hematology clinics. Job Duties Performs comprehensive health assessments, physical exams. Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient. Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, offers treatment recommendations and prescribes medications to manage symptoms of treatment; collaborates with infusion center for iron infusion and other treatments as needed to support coordination; plans and implements therapeutic regimens that include both nursing and medical management strategies, including prescription of medications. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits. Shares responsibility in triaging patients' calls and messages; communicates with inpatient providers at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center to ensure streamlined care when patients are admitted to the hospital. For clinical trial patients, adheres to study-related policies and procedures as outlined in clinical protocol. Performs scheduled study-related visits, study screenings, and toxicity assessments.
