You will provide dedicated support across 3 oncology floors within the hospital. Schedule - 3 days a week, 8 hour days 8:00A - 4:00P. No nights, No On-Call. Temporary status position (non-benefits eligible) **What your day will look like** Determines and prioritizes patient care needs. Diagnoses are determined and prioritized from the assessment data using appropriate complex clinical reasoning. Performs or implements interventions and treatments with knowledge of health care research findings and reflecting a scientific basis and theory. Order, perform and interpret laboratory tests. The Nurse Practitioner will order and interpret any tests necessary to the medical evaluation. Examples include CBC, serum chemistry, tumor markers, chest x-ray, cat scans, nuclear scans, MRI, venous Doppler studies, EKG and Echo at appropriate oncology disease specific treatment interval as defined by NCCN guidelines. Select and performs tests and therapeutic procedures for the patient as necessary, adhering to scope of practice guidelines and program area's curriculum. Prescribe Drugs: The Nurse Practitioner will prescribe drugs as necessary as appropriate for the Hematology/Oncology office in accordance with state and federal law. Allows and encourages residents to do as much of their own care as possible. Serves meals to residents in the dining room or apartments. Encourages residents to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the residents right to freedom of choice. Observes resident’s dietary needs and assists with feeding as necessary. Records and reports changes in residents eating habits to the supervisor. Initiates and participates in leisure activities provided for the residents as described in the activity calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs and to develop friendships with other residents. Daily documentation on all ADL sheets, incident reporting or changes in resident behavior, condition or personal needs and reports information to the supervisor in a timely manner. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents. Performs daily light housekeeping to the rooms. Follows direction of supervisor for other tasks as needed.
