What We Offer Schedule: Part-time (24 hours), Three 8 hour shifts within a window of monday-friday, schedule will vary between 7:30A-4P, 8A-4:30P & 8:30A-5P based on unit need. Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services. Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities. Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information. Conducting rounds, evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment Admitting and discharging patients from the facility Qualifications Education / Experience / Requirements Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate) Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina Current DEA registration An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred) Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Able to work independently and in a team Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
