Responsibilities The Perioperative RN is responsible for managing the care of the pediatric and adult patient requiring a surgical procedure. The Perioperative RN is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative stay. The Perioperative RN participates in the clinical assessment, planning for care, implantation of appropriate nursing techniques and evaluation of nursing interventions. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year previous Perioperative RN experience preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. ACLS within 6 months of employment. Responsibilities The Surgical Technologist facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION High School diploma or GED required; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered. Completion of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Previous experience preferred REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), NCCT is acceptable or meet the grandfather clause. Grandfather Clause: The bill includes an extensive grandfather clause exempting all individuals employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before Sept. 1, 2009.
