Specific duties and responsibilities are as follows: Administers or supervises administration of medications (all forms), bloodwork, IVs, treatments, specimen collection and related nursing duties. Provide patient education on medication and treatments provided. Participates in hospital infection control program/policies/guidelines with documentation of information on a daily basis and routing to Infection Control Nurse for daily report. Participates in assessment and formulation of initial service plan and subsequent plans of care for residents assigned. Prepares or supervises nurse in preparing resident for EKG, EKG, consults, x-rays and related procedures. Assesses, implements, documents manual holds, seclusion/restraint processes utilizing required documentation/forms. Assists the medical physician as needed. Provides emergency nursing care and examination of injuries with documentation and follow-up care as needed. Responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate resident/nursing and supplies with inventory and discarding any outdated supplies. Responsive and compliant with current residents’ rights and advocacy issues; adheres to and complies with unit, hospital, and departmental policies and guidelines. Accepts written, oral and phone orders from physicians, psychiatrists, ARNP's, PA's or dentists, transcribes orders and initiates or carries out orders. Participates in the formulation of individualized residents' treatment plans. Admits and transfers residents to and from home unit or other hospital facilities with proper forms completed and ensures that appropriate documentation accompanies residents. Participates in resident evaluations and development of each resident's treatment and discharge plan with the treatment team. Preparation of nursing care assessments/service implementation plans for designated residents. Monitors, supervises, and evaluates unlicensed assistive personnel in performing assigned nursing functions according to DCF OP 155-5 with copies to their supervisor for inclusion on staff's evaluation. Provides training when needed to perform assigned function. Performs other related duties as required to meet the needs of the department or resident's quality of care. Overview For Inpatient assignment, assists the attending physician in the care and management of patients on Inpatient units within the hospital. This includes making patient rounds, contributing to the decisions for daily care, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and facilitating and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures. Will make frequent bedside visits to assess the status of patients and direct care accordingly. May also see patients in the clinic environment. For Emergency Dept. assignment assists the Emergency Department physicians in the comprehensive medical care of the patient, in the emergency department and the chest pain observation unit and in any role the supervisory physician deems appropriate and consistent with applicable law, hospital regulation and licensure and clinical privileges. The incumbent will consult with the supervisory physician to determine the most appropriate care for patients. Acute Care ARNP or PA Required. For Clinic assignment, under supervision of an attending physician this position will provide diagnostic and therapeutic health care coverage for patients which will include but not be limited to taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, coordinating lab tests, diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and providing assistance to the patient regarding a plan of treatment and education. Other duties may include sharing call hours, phone coverage, and seeing admitted patients within the hospital. For ICU assignment, assists the attending ICU physician in the care and management of patients. This includes making patient rounds, contributing to the decisions for daily care, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and facilitating and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures. Will make frequent bedside visits to assess the status of patients and direct care accordingly. Acute Care ARNP or PA Required. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant. Credentialing: Must meet requirements set forth by the Medical Staff Office to obtain and retain privileges to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network, as applicable. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current and clear license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida. BLS is required.

Overview Position Summary The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (APP) will provide patient care in both the outpatient clinic and hospital consult settings under the supervision of an attending ophthalmologist. The APP will evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of acute and chronic eye conditions, respond to inpatient and emergency consults, and perform office-based ophthalmic procedures. Key Responsibilities Obtain medical histories and perform focused ophthalmic examinations Perform and/or assist with office-based procedures such as intravitreal injections and minor ophthalmic interventions Conduct routine follow-up visits and pre- and post-operative assessments Coordinate diagnostic testing, procedures, and interdisciplinary care planning Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in ophthalmology Proficiency or familiarity with office-based ophthalmic procedures (e.g., intravitreal injections, lasers, minor surgeries) Strong communication, organizational, and team collaboration skills Flexibility to work effectively in both inpatient consult and outpatient clinic settings Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant.
