Responsibilities CNA Responsibilities: Direct and monitor the personal care duties carried out by Nursing Assistants of an assigned team. Report to Charge Nurse unusual symptoms, daily needs, and progress of residents. Notify Charge Nurse of changes in residents’ conditions or needs. Follow the Profile of Care for each resident and monitor the performance of Nursing Assistants in carrying out the appropriate aspects of the care plan. Respond immediately to residents’ requests. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), according to their plan of care and individual needs. From Up to Qualifications CNA Qualifications: Seventeen (17) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employment Certificate/Permit required for individuals 17 years of age. Registration in the State Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) is required. Must be active on the registry with no findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, or misappropriation of property. Training and work experience in a geriatric setting preferred. Ability to supervise and work well with other personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Caring and respectful attitude towards residents. Physical stamina for constant activity required. Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence. This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. Maintains competence in point of use cleaning of instruments. Disinfects equipment and room as determined by hospital standards and/or policies. 7. Verifies information in chart is accurate and up to date, including but not limited to: reason for visit, health history, surgical history, medications, allergies, preferred laboratory, preferred pharmacy, fall risk, pain assessment, psychosocial assessment, learning assessment, preferred language, and social history. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department. 8. Functions as preceptor to new staff. 9. Functions as charge nurse. 10. Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance review. Qualifications EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. EXPERIENCE 2-3 years nursing experience, urology preferred. Recent ambulatory/medical office experience preferred. Proficient in use of computer software to include electronic patient records. Must have ability to use internet for literature searches regarding care for patients. LICENSURE Valid State of Rhode Island Registered Nurse License, BLS required within one month. SPECIAL SKILLS Hospital and unit based orientation provided PHYSICAL DEMAND Exposure to bodily fluids and biotherapy. Bending, carrying items < 25 pounds, sitting/on phone for longer periods of time.
