Performs delegated nursing tasks for which competence is demonstrated through the Nursing Assistant skills checklist. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Currently registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants to be eligible for employment in the basic provider settings. Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required. Education High School diploma or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision. Possesses and competently demonstrates core Nursing Assistant skills as outlined in the skill competency checklist and understands the role of performing delegated tasks. Possesses a willingness and the initiative to successfully complete educational requirements while developing and learning new skills as required by the unit. Possesses effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team. Possesses rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Provides services in a setting where there is potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids, chemotherapy agents, communicable disease and hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste. Requires frequent standing walking, bending, reaching and carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs. Unit Description: HOT (Hematology, Oncology, and Transplant) Unit is a 24-bed unit where team members care for children with cancer or blood disorders and children undergoing bone marrow transplantation. Patients stay for an average range of 3-45 days. Schedule: Part time PM shift (3:00pm-11:30pm) with weekday and weekend rotation. Required to work 2 shifts/week. Must be able to attend orientation for the following dates, with no exceptions: October 26 8:00am-3:30 October 27 8:00am-4:30pm October 29 8:00am-4:30pm November 9 8:00am-4:30pm Children's Wisconsin is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer.
