The Staffing Collaborative has created a new structure that allows alternative nursing employment at VUMC. Like a travel nurse, the Staffing Collaborative will allow Nursing staff to work 13-week assignments within a specific unit at VUMC. The Department of Nursing Strategic Programs and the Staffing Collaborative provide a new and exciting approach to nursing in a patient-focused, safe, and efficient manner. The Staffing Collaborative's primary responsibility is to ensure coverage for the most significant scheduling needs across the organization. Assignments may necessitate working weekends and holidays. Organization: Radiology APPs Job Summary: This is a hybrid clinical and procedural APP role. The APP acts as an adjunct to the Interventional Radiologists' practice focusing on the clinical and procedural management of patients treated by the section of Interventional Radiology (IR). Clinical: The APP is skilled in consenting, writing H&Ps, orders, plans of care, problem lists, performing medication reconciliation, discharge summaries, and inpatient rounding. The APP conducts new and return patient visits in the IR clinic, writing structured clinical notes meeting billing compliance standards. Procedural: The APP is skilled in non-vascular invasive radiologic procedures such as paracenteses, thoracenteses, thyroid biopsies, and other subcutaneous biopsies. The APP is responsible for writing procedure notes that meet compliance standards. . DEPARTMENT SUMMARY Interventional Radiology (IR) is a subspecialty of radiology that utilizes advanced imaging techniques to guide minimally invasive procedures that are performed to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions. IR has something to offer in the management of patients of all ages with all types of diseases involving almost every organ system, and we are often able to provide an alternative to surgery or a targeted therapy for treatment when other options are not available. Because IR procedures are minimally invasive, they are frequently associated with shorter recovery times and lower complication rates than surgical procedures may be. IR performs approximately 7,500 procedures at Vanderbilt University Hospital and about 2,000 procedures each year at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. We also see approximately 2,500 patients in the IR clinic at VUH and 750 patients in the Vanderbilt Vein Clinic at One Hundred Oaks annually. This is a full-time role, covering nights and some weekends. LPN Duties/Responsibilities: Assumes responsibility for administering quality care to meet the total needs of residents Provides medication administration, handling, & storage Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation Assists in maintaining the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and for security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts Comply with company policies and procedures related to controlled substances, narcotic count and documentation Use sound nursing judgment to evaluate changes in resident situations and report to Wellness Director and/or physician when appropriate. Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them to the Wellness Director Offers comfort and support, emotionally and physically, to residents Reports resident and staff concerns and/or issues to the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director, as designated. Assists with vital signs and weight monitoring monthly or more frequently as required for all residents and completes all required documentation Assists with resident move-in and move-outs and with resident discharge planning as needed Ensure compliance to the American House philosophy as well as all written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the Resident Services Department LPN Required Skills/Abilities: 2+ years of nursing experience preferably with experience in long-term care or geriatrics Experience with dementia residents preferred Up to date first aid and CPR certification Current Unencumbered LPN license in the state Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of the older adults.
