Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; and maintaining licensure. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, obtaining blood pressure, weight, height and temperature as pertinent. Completes medical history forms. Will generally be assigned to a high-volume provider. Performs set-up for procedures and assists provider with procedures, which may include performing dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, removing sutures and staples, removing castings, breathing treatments, assisting with cast application and DME fittings, EKG's, urinalyses, strep, flu, pregnancy tests, and some injections as directed by the provider and dependent upon the providers' specialty. Acts as a clinical resource for Certified Medical Assistants. Actively participates in departmental performance improvement activities or special projects. Serves as the electronic medical record super-user or expert within practice. Assist with new Certified Medical Assistant orientation and onboarding. SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is to provide care for the residents under the direction of the nursing and medical staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight. Administers and documents medications given by following specifically written physicians orders, including oral, topical, and suppository medications, as well as eye and ear drops. Compliance - Participates in all in-service programs to expand and develop abilities. Maintains compliance to all personnel policies, established community policies and procedures, and Federal and State regulations and standards, including but not limited to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality laws. Understands and implements the Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan and evacuation procedures of the community during drills and actual emergencies.
